September's 1st Friday in Art's District

This past Friday I decided to meet some friends and attend my first "1st Friday" arts event downtown in the arts district. Im glad I got there somewhat early as parking was a nightmare. The weather was very nice the day of this event although it was still in the 90's.

I enjoyed the live improve artists outside at the Arts Factory. Very original and entertaining.  They even had a sign up sheet so anyone could go up to the mike and perform a piece.

At the same location you could get drinks at an outside booth or even a seafood rice concoction that was being stirred up in the largest pan i have seen.  I bought a bowl of the seafood rice ($5 a bowl), it would have been better if the rice was more of a cooked rice instead oof partially hard. I also bit into a piece of broken mussell shell.

The various artist work inside the Arts Factory & Artifice were outstanding.  I also found a comic store on the 2nd floor of the Arts Factory.

Outside the Arts Factory the Flameology group also performed:

Due to my back this was the only small area that I walked around that night, there are alot of places to walk around and look to see whats taking place down there. I did buy a few photo props at a low cost by local artists that had tutu & bow booths up.

My review: You should experience this event at least once. If you are looking for some art to hang in your home or business, I advise going here.  If you like crafted jewlrey, there are many of these booths as well.

Enjoy!
